Where are you from?
I was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (about an hour southwest of Toronto). Raised in a small town of Guelph, Ontario for about half of my childhood years and lived the other half in the Caribbean island of Trinidad & Tobago. I now reside in Mississauga, Ontario (outskirts of Toronto) for the past 11 years.
Influences in life
As far as influences go, I’m heavily influenced by family. My parents for instilling core family values, and my new family (wife and 3 kids) for keeping me grounded and driven to be the best that I can be.
What inspires you?
Inspiration to make music…I’d have to say just my love for hiphop and what it stands for. I’ve been a fan since the mid to late 80s and it was like my 3rd parent educating me to the realities of this world. Having grown up and experienced some of the blessings that life has to offer, my writing is inspired from that perspective.
What is success to you?
For me success is the feeling of knowing that whatever it is you are doing is positively affecting others. Knowing that people outside of my immediate circle can relate or get something out of a thought or message I deliver is success. Any monetary stipend over and above that would be the cherry on top. Haha.
Dream collaboration would be with some of my rap heroes as a youngster coming up. KRS-One, Phonte and Common. Too many to name but these are the 3 that immediately come to mind.
My biggest accomplishment would be putting out 2 solo albums that have been well received and that have opened up several doors of opportunity for the future.
Who are you feeling right now?
I am feeling any artist that embodies real soul and real feeling in their music. My playlists have been predominantly indie hiphop and soul artists that I stumble across through various social media sites and hiphop blogs
What do you have in the pipeline?
Coming soon…more collaborative singles on other people’s projects for now. Just going to take a little break from new solo material for now to push my latest album and do shows.
Any wise words?
Wise words…whatever you put out there to the masses is in some way a reflection of you…so make sure your presentation is a true and honest reflection of you.
